![]() ![]() In a nutshell, anything that goes wrong is entirely on you. Not only do these actions require some familiarity with a Linux-style terminal and confidence with computer hardware, there’s also a real risk of damaging your ChromeOS device and/or voiding your warranty because you’re making essential, unsupported changes to the BIOS (among other things). We’re only providing them below to illustrate the cumbersome, potentially dangerous steps involved in the installation process. However, these instructions come with a huge disclaimer ! They are not a guaranteed, foolproof method of Windows installation on Chromebooks. If you’ve read to this point and you still think installing Windows is worth a try, below we offer some background on getting Windows 10 (and possibly other versions of Windows) onto your Chromebook. Still Determined to run Windows on your Chromebook? Or, if you’d like a little more insight into how Cameyo’s Virtual App Delivery works, schedule a demo to get an engineer’s take. You’ll be using Virtual App Delivery to access desktop-tier Windows apps from Chrome OS in no time. Instead of spending hours trying to hack Windows 10 to run on your Chromebook, take a minute to sign up for your free trial of Cameyo. Thanks to Cameyo’s pioneering VAD platform, it’s all done in a simple, secure, centralized and cost-effective way. Also, our new Cameyo for Linux capabilities extend VAD’s capabilities to Linux apps too. ![]() It’s able to deliver apps via any modern HTML5-capable web client like the Safari or Chrome browser, which means users can access desktop Windows apps on macOS devices as well as mobile devices like an iPhone. In fact, Cameyo moves beyond the operating system entirely, opening up access to Windows apps across all devices. On ChromeOS, they can integrate with the launcher and file system for a completely transparent cloud desktop experience. VAD is a cloud-native technology that transforms full-featured desktop apps into progressive web apps (PWAs) with just a few clicks. Nor does it force you to use proprietary viewer clients or deploy on-prem infrastructure like VDI. They can work with the native Windows version of Microsoft Office or even specialized programs like AutoCAD or Quickbooks without the need for a compatibility layer.Ĭameyo isn’t a remote desktop. Cameyo’s Virtual App Delivery (VAD) platform gives Chromebook users seamless access to all of their business-critical Windows software, including legacy Windows apps, directly within the ChromeOS environment. To truly get the best of both worlds, Cameyo is the perfect solution. You’ll also have to choose your operating system and skip OS verification every time you start your Chromebook! But when you’re booted in Windows, you sacrifice those advantages just for the sake of running Windows apps. When you’re in the ChromeOS environment, you’ll get the customary Chromebook advantages. That also applies to a dual-boot setup, which is where you choose which operating system to use when you power on the computer. To put it bluntly, turning your Chromebook into a Windows laptop defeats the purpose of owning a Chromebook in the first place. They’re designed to run ChromeOS, which is why they get such great battery life, why they’re so affordable, why they’re more manageable and why they have inherent security benefits. Is ditching ChromeOS for Windows 10 really the best way to do it?įor starters, most Chromebook models aren’t made to run Windows. You want to run Windows apps seamlessly on your Chromebook. So let’s proceed from that starting point instead. ![]() But isn’t swapping out operating systems an extreme solution to a much simpler problem? Because, when you think about it, the real goal of carrying out a Chromebook Windows installation is the ability to run Windows software, not Windows itself. Or maybe you work in IT, and you have ambitions of getting an entire fleet of ChromeOS devices to run Windows instead. And if you can just figure out how to install Windows on that Chromebook, you believe you’ll achieve the perfect marriage of form and functionality. Here’s the scenario: You’ve got a Chromebook (or are thinking about getting one) and you’ve got a copy of Windows 10. ![]()

Are not the implications of black hole evaporation and “branes” as momentous? ![]() By continuing to follow the threads, we see the follow-on impact. Henderson tracks the key readers of these and similar works, documenting the transmission of ideas and inspiration. Riemann, Poincaré, Einstein and others were not seeking to change art and thought trends, yet they helped give birth to ideas popularized in Abbott’s Flatland, Bragdon’s A Primer of Higher Space, and the mind-expanding visualization exercises of Charles Hinton’s “hyperspace philosophy”. One can imagine the rich directed graph uniting visionaries and continents as laid out in these chapters. Meticulous to the point of being overwhelming, Henderson convincingly documents the connections between movements such as Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Theosophy and more, explaining their interest in higher dimensions and post-Euclidean geometries. Buckminster Fuller and Russian esotericist Peter Ouspensky situating them at an intersection of science, mathematics and culture excited by the inspirations of spacetime. With the occult and philosophical thread, Henderson links such diverse innovators as Marcel Duchamp, R. Buckminster Fuller named Bragdon as an important author, and Martin Gardner referenced Bragdon in his own popular expositions on the fourth dimension. Fused with Bragdon’s background in Theosophy and spiritualism, his thoughts went on to be the basis of four books and other writings. Among those excited by his books on higher dimensions was Claude Bragdon. ![]() Henderson, a scholar of the occult in the history of Twentieth Century art, cites as a major figure “hyperspace philosopher” Charles Hinton. Buckminster Fuller, Robert Smithson, and the Park Place Gallery group in the ‘60s and more recently for such icons as Tony Robbin and digital architect Marcos Novak.įrench author Francis Warrain is quoted on the fourth dimension: “What horizons are opened to scholars, occultists, to poets!” A fascinating part of this history is the intertwined development of occult philosophies along artistic movements. It was these higher dimensions that instigated new conceptions of space for R. Ultimately, Henderson finds, a fourth dimension in its many manifestations eclipsed alternative (non-Euclidean) geometries in the popular mind. The art of Duchamp covers this entire span and Henderson charts the artist’s changing commitment to new geometries. The temporal focus coincided with the popularity of the theory of Relativity from the ‘30s to ‘70s, but a spatial understanding was dominant during the bookends of the Twentieth Century. The arc of popular interpretations of a fourth dimension is covered, including temporal and spatial interpretations. This work is strongly persuasive that the reception of fourth dimension theories and related topics was fundamental to the development of modern art. The work is well illustrated, though it would have been nice if at least some of the numerous black and white plates had been upgraded to color. Looking back on the three decades since the original publication, Henderson considers the further impact of these concepts on art and culture in the late Twentieth Century. ![]() Along with a new index, there is an extensive hundred-page “Reintroduction” that serves as the author’s reappraisal, history, and synopsis of this impressive work. Henderson covers the gamut from philosophy to painting, literature to the plastic arts, and beyond. This revised edition of a work first published in 1983 details the impact and spread of non-Euclidean geometry and the idea of a fourth dimension into art and thought in the early Twentieth Century. ![]() ![]() The vinyl cutter for example was an absolute must! It prevented us from having to get up and walk into the garage to use the saw every time we needed a cut. I will include a photo below and the links to the tools we used that made the job a lot easier. Having the right tools will make the job easier, safer, and less frustrating. A CRUCIAL TIP I want to point out is how important it is to have the right tools when laying vinyl floors. We taped down the edges of the vapor barrier with underlayment tape and started the vinyl from the front right corner of the room and worked our way to the left, row by row. Then we made sure the tile floors were swept/vacuumed thoroughly and then we rolled out the vapor barrier. We did remove all our baseboards prior to laying the floors. You can also visit my Instagram page and watch all the videos I saved in my ‘Vinyl Floor’ highlight on my profile. I suggest watching lots of YouTube videos like we did to learn the best ways to lay vinyl flooring. I won’t go into detail about the process of actually laying the floors. You can also use these in doorways if you want to end the vinyl and start it again in another directions (at a bedroom door threshold for example).Ī Reducer is a transition type that you would use to go between the vinyl and another flooring that is not level with the vinyl. Below I will share photos of just some of the many different transition pieces that are out there. It is fine if there will be a lip or if the other flooring is a bit shorter or taller than the vinyl flooring. They make tons of transition pieces to go between the vinyl and other types of flooring. I was also asked what to do if the vinyl flooring butts up to another type of flooring that is taller or lower than the vinyl. The most asked question I received on both my Instagram and my TikTok was what to do when the vinyl ends at the edge of other tile, carpet, laminate, or more vinyl or wood flooring. What if my vinyl ends at carpet or other uneven flooring? Click HERE for more information on how a vapor barriers works or try a quick Google search to read the specifics. ![]() From our research and what we were told at the flooring store, a vapor barrier prevents any moisture from coming up through the subfloor and damaging the floor and/or prevents moisture from developing between the subfloor and vinyl. ![]() It depends on the brand and type of vinyl you are using so either ask the flooring store or refer to the vinyl manufacturer’s website for what is recommended. We did purchase a sample piece of rigid vinyl that was only 5mm thick and there was definitely a big difference in the feel of the 7mm over the tile floors versus the 5mm. I think the thickness of the vinyl and the attached padding plays a huge role in both preventing any clicking sounds when walking on it and also preventing any grout lines from showing through the vinyl over time. The brand is CoreLuxe, the color is Beach Cottage Oak and it was purchased from Lumber Liquidators. We chose a rigid vinyl plank that was 7mm thick and had a padding already attached to the backside of it. Now let’s talk about the type of vinyl flooring we went with. ![]() ![]() ![]() However, be sure you have plenty of rangers to protect him (ideally ones that have gained at least a couple of levels).
